About Our Reborns
My name is Dessa Rae Greenwood and my Daughter's name is Mary Ropelato, and we are the Mother Daughter team behind ma and daugh Reborns. We are what we like to call a Production / Design Team. Collaborating on most of our Reborn Creations.
We take great pride in bringing you the most life like dolls that we can, making sure that we are up to date on all the new techniques available for Reborning at this time. We devote much time and energy developing our own techniques in which we incorporate into each one of our Beautiful Reborn Art Dolls.
We bring to Reborning, all of the skills we have perfected over the many years
that we have been making dolls.
We make sure each doll is Heirloom quality that will last for many generations to come.
We bring our painting skills to each doll by using the highest quality air dry pigments.
These Pigments are permanent and have been tested to retain their true color quality. Over time (with reasonable care) these pigments will not fade, peel, craze, or change in any way.
These air dry pigments are very permanent and the test dolls we have from over a year ago have not faded and are just as vibrant as the dolls we create today.
We have found what works best for us and the techniques are our own.
Our dolls are painted layer by layer to produce the most life like skin that we can. We give each Reborn baby blue, yellow, and mauve undertones, transparent skin, barely there veins, and stork bites. Whether mottled or peaches and cream, each baby's skin tone is beautiful, and unique.
No toxic solvents are used in the painting of our Reborn Dolls.
Our babies eyes are always the highest quality Bountiful Baby glass or acrylic eyes.
Our babies also get a beautiful, natural manicure on their ten tiny fingers and toes.
Please note
We do not open my babies noses, because I don't like to compromise the vinyl. The nose is shaded
to add depth and realism.
Our babies do not contain magnets. We will send a modified pacifier, that can be applied to the lips
with a small amount of tacky putty, that will not harm the finish.
The hair on our Reborn babies is either Hand-rooted using the very finest imported Human Hair, or Hand-painted. For our older babies we use very high quality mohair wigs.
We root the lashes on both the sleepers and the open eyed babies. The lashes are sealed from
within with a non-toxic waterproof sealant.
Dessa Rae brings the love of sewing to each baby by creating beautiful cloth bodies,
that are exclusive to ma and daugh Reborns.
Each body is made out of the highest quality Doe Suede fabric. Our babies are oh so cuddly,
and will just melt into your arms.
We weight each doll with loose stone granules, (for a bean bag effect) and plastic pellets, making sure the weight is evenly distributed. We stuff their little bodies with only the highest quality, non-clumping Silk Blend fiber fill. All of our dolls heads are weighted, so use care when picking them up. The use of contained non-rusting, zinc plated, ultra smooth BB shot is used when a heavier weight is desired.

Details
For their trip home, we always wrap our dolls in a beautiful receiving blanket, then we slip them into a special Mylar bag, tied with a designer ribbon chosen especially for that particular doll. The shipping box is then filled with plenty of bubble wrap and Styrofoam packing to keep them safe on the trip home to meet their new mommy.
A special Certificate of Authenticity always accompanies them to their new home, as well as a Rebirth Certificate, and instructions on how to care for your little one. All props, blankets, and toys used for photography are not included in the auction, (unless specified).
ma and daugh Reborns are truly a unique work of art, and are not intended to be a child's toy. With care these Heirloom Quality Reborn Fine Art Dolls will last for many generations to come.
